Congratulations to all of the young men named to the 2025 All-KOGT Baseball Team. Orange County showed off with two district champions in Orangefield and Little Cypress-Mauriceville while Bridge City went the farthest, reaching the semi-finals in 4AD2.
We can’t disagree with the 18-4A Coaches who named Parker Seago of the Bears as their MVP. The senior lead off hitter batted .390 with an On Base Percentage of nearly .500. On the mound he was 12-0 with 93K’s in 68 innings and an ERA of 0.824.
Marco Bandiero is the Offensive MVP with a .400 avg. with 11 HR’s and 41 RBI’s. Sluggers are prone to strikeouts but not for Bandi. In 131 plate appearances he only struck out nine times.
Sophomore righty Carson Gonzales of Orangefield is our Defensive Player of the Year. Batters did not want to face Gonzo, who posted an 11-1 record with 115 strikeouts in 79.2 innings pitched with a 1.14 ERA.
We had three coaches all worthy of Coach of the Year honors and we chose BC’s Chad Landry who reached several milestones in his long career including a semi-final berth. LCM’s Hunter Hagler earned his first district title and Orangefield’s Jake Nash won his first district title in his first year as head coach.
We want to recognize one more player because he was having an MVP season until he was injured. Orangefield’s Matt Johnson was 5-0 with a 1.04 ERA and he was batting .400 thru 19 games. His 17 RBI’s still placed him second on the team in their 34 game season. But he also shined in the dugout after his injury as we saw it first hand. Johnson was constantly cheering and coaching and being a leader and we’d like to honor him with our first ALL-KOGT Leadership Award.
