
Alicia Lia Woods, age 54 of Orange, Texas, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2019 in Port Arthur, Texas. A memorial service to honor Lia’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Deweyville with Rev. Levester Hardiman and Rev. Damon Bickham officiating. Family and friends will gather for a visitation one hour prior to the service.
Lia was born on October 6, 1965 in West Palm Beach, Florida and was one of three children. The family made their home in Orange area in 1975. She worked as a case worker for twelve years with Texas Health & Human Services of Orange until her health declined. Lia was a dedicated member of the Primus Chapel C.M.E Church of Silsbee. She loved to go fishing , crabbing and make trips to the beach with her family. Lia also loved spending time with her other son, the four legged one “Fred”. She was a simple, kind, loving and strong willed woman that will be greatly missed by many.
She is preceded in death by her father, Fred Chapman, and her stepfather Norman Brown.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Rev. Michael Woods of Orange, TX, her son Justin Granger and his wife Betty of Rio Medina, TX, mother Violet Brown of Orange, TX, brother Rev. Fred Chapman and his wife Mary of Warrior, AL, sister Polly Gamblin and her husband Mike of Franklin, NC, mother and father in-law Eugene and Patricia Woods, Sr. of Orange, TX, sister-in-law Nesla Vaughns of Orange, TX, Eugene Woods Jr. of Orange, TX, three grandchildren; Joseph Morales, Mikayla Carroll and Dylan Carroll, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.
