Cristina Acosta and her 11 year-old son Johnathan are being honored as the Orange Public Library Family of the Year by the American Association of University Women, Orange Branch, for their extensive use of library resources. Their names will be displayed on a plaque at the library, and they received an Amazon gift card from AAUW.
Johnathan is in the fifth grade at Orangefield Elementary School. At present, he likes to read graphic books and some chapter books. His favorite activities at school are gym and recess, and his favorite subjects are math and science.
Cristina is a certified X ray technician and currently works as office manager of a health clinic. She enjoys reading historical novels. Her advice to parents on encouraging their children to become readers is to read to them early and often, and to be role models by being avid readers themselves.
The Acostas are the 27th family to be honored as Library Family of the Year. The plaque with their names will be on display for nine years.
