A 24-year-old man from Orange was seriously injured Monday afternoon in a crash involving a sedan and an 18-wheel truck rig. The collision was about 4:45 p.m. on Interstate 10 east near Simmons Drive.
Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Stephanie Davis said Ted Stone was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
She said Stone was driving a Chevrolet Impala on the eastbound access road of the interstate. He lost control for an unknown reason and the car traveled across the grass median onto the interstate. The car hit the side of the 18-wheeler. The impact sent the Impala off the roadway and it came to rest on the grass median.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was 56-year-old Rodric Bushnell III of Louisiana. He was not injured.
DPS troopers are continuing to investigate the factors that contributed to the crash.
