On Sunday, January 21, 2018, at approximately 3:19 AM, the Vidor Police Department dispatch center received a call of a one vehicle traffic collision on Wexford Drive near North Main (HWY 105). The first officer on scene found a pick up that had left the roadway striking a tree. There was major damage to the passenger side of the vehicle. The officer found that there were three occupants in the vehicle. One of the occupants was ejected from the vehicle. The officer attempted to render aid until Acadian Ambulance Service and Orange County ESD #1 arrived on scene. The ejected 14 year old passenger, Gracie Griffin of Mauriceville, was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Rodney Price. The other two occupants were 13 years of age and were transported to a Beaumont hospital by Acadian Ambulance Service in serious but not life-threatening condition. VPD said it appears that speed was a factor in this tragedy.
