It was five years ago today (September 17) that West Orange-Stark quarterback Reggie Garrett threw a touchdown pass to Mark Roberts against Jasper, and then collapsed on the sidelines. Garrett was pronounced dead at age 17 from an undetectable heart disease. Garett wore number 12 and when he talked about how he did things, he always said he gives 112% which is what you see today on many vehicles, t-shirts and other Mustang items today. “He was not only a great football player at West Orange-Stark, but he was a great individual,” Coach Cornel Thompson said.
