
Explore the world of Edgar Allan Poe at this after-hours evening of history and literature, featuring a staged reading of Poe’s work inside the Stark family’s Victorian mansion.
During this immersive literary experience, guests will discover the macabre Victorian fascinations that inspired Poe, whose poems and stories are still found in Miriam Stark’s library. An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe brings the Stark family’s library and collections to life. The experience culminates in the third floor Tower Room with a staged reading of “The Tell-Tale Heart,” “The Raven” and more in collaboration with Southeast Texas Stages.
Registration is free! Reserve a timed entry slot between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. We recommend arriving 5-10 minutes prior to your time slot. Please check in at the Carriage House.
After the 30-minute House experience, extend your visit in the Carriage House with activities inspired by Poe and Victorian history.

PLEASE NOTE: This program is recommended for ages 8 and older. Accessing the historic house requires ascending six steps to reach the front porch. This self-guided experience includes 44 consecutive steps up to reach the third floor.
