
Jimmy Ray Verdine was born May 15, 1963, and passed away August 4, 2026, at the age of 63.
Jimmy Ray found his greatest happiness in the outdoors, where he felt most at home. He loved spending time hunting, working as a shrimper, and caring for the animals he cherished, especially his horses and chickens. He appreciated the simple pleasures of life and the peace that came from nature and the water.
Above all, Jimmy Ray loved his family. He treasured every moment spent with his children and grandchildren and enjoyed the traditions and memories they shared together. He will be remembered for his love of family, his hardworking spirit, and the joy he found in life’s simple blessings. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his children, Kayla Mcllroy and husband Trent, Garrett Verdine and wife Kristine, Terri Carpenter and husband LJ Underwood, and Layne Verdine and wife Alyssa Haney; grandchildren, Tanner Mcllroy and Brooks Verdine; siblings, Darrell Verdine, Patricia “Pat” Humble and husband Lanney, Catherine “Cat” Borel and husband Ira, and Leroy Verdine and wife Punkin’; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Ann Verdine; children, Heather Verdine and Amber Verdine; parents, Floyd “Chick” and Ruby Jewel Verdine; and siblings, Eddie Verdine, Paul Verdine, David “Cheese” Verdine, and Mike “Hosey” Verdine.
Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 8, 2026, at First Baptist Church, 644 State Highway 272, Deweyville, Texas. Rev. Damon Bickham will be officiating. Interment to follow at Doyle Annex Cemetery, Starks, Louisiana.
