
On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 7:13 p.m., the Newton County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a shooting near the intersection of County Road 4213 and County Road 4229 in Deweyville. Initial reports indicated that two individuals had been shot while inside a pickup truck on County Road 4229.
Newton County Sheriff’s Deputies made contact with the shooter at his residence and subsequently detained him for questioning. The victims’ vehicle fled the area, travelling to a local hospital for medical treatment. While en route to the hospital, the vehicle left the roadway on County Road 4181. An acquaintance of the driver responded to the scene and transported the victims to a residence located in the 10000 block of Old Highway 87 in Orange County.

Upon arrival, deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Newton County Sheriff’s Office and emergency medical personnel rendered first aid. First responders determined that both victims had sustained gunshot wounds to the head and were life-flighted to a Houston Hospital, where they remain in critical but stable condition.
The evidence collected from the scene was presented to Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Dana Ashmore, who issued two arrest warrants for the suspect, William Ronald Sepulvado. Sepulvado was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Newton County Jail, where he is charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (F2).
