
Bobcat Tennis was in full swing as they competed in the Ron Westbrook’s Tournament at the Beaumont Tennis Center. The Bobcats had another excellent day with 6 athletes reaching the finals in their draws.
Izzy Mills and Cane Ritchey finished second in singles. Doubles teams Zoe Harvey and Ella Sanders, and Reese Dearing and Gunnar Griffin were second in doubles.
Andy Rutledge, who was just called up from the JV team, joined the squad and medaled in his first varsity tournament bringing home a consolation win. Orangefield needed a solid performance as their toughest test of the season comes next Friday and Saturday as they travel to Longview to compete in their first ever TTCA Team Tennis Regional Tournament.
JUNIOR VARSITY
On Thursday, February 12th, the Orangefield Junior Varsity Tennis team headed back to Beaumont to compete in the Hamshire-Fannett Tournament. The Cats had another tremendous showing in what was the largest pool of play they’ve encountered this season.
Notable finishes were: Dacius Lytle – Semifinalist in JV Boys Singles, Kyran Morrow – Semifinalist in JV Boys singles, SJ Beasley – Semifinalist in JV Girls Singles, Devin Cook/Noah Gleason – Semifinalist in JV Boys Doubles, Cash Sims – 3rd in Freshmen Boys Singles, Andrew Bland/Thomas Royston – 2nd in Freshmen Boys Doubles, Cullen West/Brylee Reynolds – 2nd in Freshmen Mixed Doubles, Roc Slaughter/Alayna Perez – 2nd in JV Girls Singles, Gaven Reyes/Will Rutledge – 1st in JV Boys Doubles.
