Janice Kay Hardin, a lifelong resident of Deweyville, Texas, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2026 in Beaumont, Texas after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi on November 11, 1951 to parents, Julius and Eloise Mosley. She was a proud Deweyville Pirate who retired after 18 years of service to the school district. She supported Deweyville athletics and band competitions for decades. She enjoyed countless ball games and many other extracurricular activities with her children and grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church and supported its ministries for over 30 years.
Janice loved many things in life but she loved her family most of all. She was a steadfast and loyal caregiver to many family and friends throughout her life and her home was always open to those who needed a place to stay. She took pride in taking care of others and instilled these qualities in her children and grandchildren.
Janice had many joys in life: camping and fishing, juicy hamburgers, front porch coffee on the swing, Route 44 Sonic drinks with extra ice, phone calls with new “news”, front porch visits, playing on a slot machine, and trips to Mississippi.
Janice is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, J.R. Hardin; sons, T.J. Hardin and wife Holly, and John Boy Hardin and wife Theresa; granddaughters, Autumn Hardin and husband Delis, Hope Hardin, and Kaylee Hardin; great grandson, Gideon Hardin-Chalambaga; sisters, Jo Marie Shute and Joan Hogg. She was known and loved by her numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins as Kay Kay.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Eloise Mosley; and along with siblings: Jannette, Judy, Joyce, and Jerry.
Janice’s family would like to thank Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas Cancer Network and Harbor Hospice for their excellent care.
A special thanks to Amy Ousley for her years of friendship and compassionate care.
