
The Celebration of Life for Mrs. Josie Jefferson, 66, of Orange, will be Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 10am at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the direction of Sparrow Funeral Home. Rites of Christian Burial will follow at Hollywood Community Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 until 10am.
Josie was born to Josie Chargois and Theodore Hillsbury, in Orange, TX, January 22, 1959.
Known to many as “We We,” Josie was a member of the 1977 graduating class of West Orange High School.
A Dietician, she was employed by the former Baptist Hospital. When the hospital cut staff, she became a Certified Nursing Assistant and retained her employment. In later years she was a volunteer with Friends Helping Friends.
She never liked football, but with Earl Thomas, III, she became a Seahawks fan. It was the same with boxing, but she learned to love the sport.
Raised as a catholic, in later years she became Baptist. Josie was a member of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
Josie loved her nieces, Shariah Prejean, and Sha’ Kanah Juneau, nephew, Jermiah Juneau and great niece Mari and her God son Eritrius Chargois, aka Richard D.
She answered the Master’s Call November 21, 2025 at Focus Care of Orange Nursing Home.
Cherishing her memory are her son, Xavier Jefferson and daughter, Bianca Garrett (Charles), both of Orange, brother, Donald Brown of Orange, sisters, Melissa Rhodes of Charolette, NC, Thedora Richard, Lillian Shields and Julia Hillsbury, all of Hopsville, KY and Samantha Watley (Jason) , Bridgette Rosette, and Kysha Taylor,all of Lake Charles, LA, and her grandkids, T’Era and Charisi Garrett.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Jefferson, Sr., her parents, Josie Chargois and Theodore Hillsbury, stepfather, Clyde Allen, sister Renetta Alphonse, and three siblings that passed at birth.
