The Bridge City Chamber of Commerce announced recently that Jacob “Coach” Monceaux has been selected as the Parade Marshal for the 2025 Bridge City Christmas Parade, to be held on December 6 at 6pm on Roundbunch.
Each year, the Parade Marshal is chosen to represent “The Best of Bridge City”, someone whose heart, spirit, and dedication to the community truly stand out. This year’s special honoree, Jacob Monceaux, embodies those very qualities.
“I was happy when I found out because I didn’t expect it,” Monceaux said. “But I’m glad I’m doing it and I’m going to be in a convertible so everyone can see me.” Jacob will be accompanied by Tom Orozco and Jerry McInnis. “I’ve been to the parade before but I’ve never been in the parade,” he said with a smile.
“If you have ever attended a Bridge City sporting event, chances are you have seen and definitely heard Jacob in the stands,” said Scot Shaffer who nominated Monceaux. “His booming voice and boundless enthusiasm fill the air as he cheers on his beloved Bridge City Cardinals. His energy and joy are contagious, and his presence has become a staple at Bridge City games and events.”
“Though he is not an official coach, everyone in town knows him affectionately as “Coach Jacob.” The nickname reflects the way he inspires, encourages, and lifts up everyone around him. Whether he is supporting students, motivating players, or showing appreciation for teachers and administrators, Jacob’s love for the Bridge City ISD community runs deep.”
As one of his closest friends, Coach Chris Moore, says: “It’s impossible to have a bad day when Jacob is around you.”
BC Athletic Director Josh Smalley said, “We are really excited to have Jacob as the parade marshal. He’s been part of BC Athletics since I played here many, many years ago. He’s always been one of the Cardinals biggest fans and a true ambassador for all things Bridge City.”
Jacob, who is also a big Dallas Cowboys fan, is known for gathering with players at the end of the game and leading them with his favorite chant….”How Bout Them Cardinals!”
Jacob represents the very best of Bridge City: faithful, spirited, and always cheering others on. His passion for the community, his positivity, and his unwavering support for the Cardinals make him a true hometown treasure.
