Lamar University (LU) invites the Southeast Texas community to the fifth annual Cardinal Lights, presented by ExxonMobil, on Tuesday, Nov. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. on the intramural field next to the Wayne A. Reaud Building on the LU campus.
Cardinal Lights will feature a holiday light display for families to enjoy, as well as children’s inflatables, food trucks, hot cocoa, holiday cookies, photos with Santa, interactive games, and other fun holiday activities. A festive drone show will take place at the conclusion of the event.
“While this is a community event, another primary reason we host this event is for our students,” LU President Dr. Jaime Taylor said. “At the end of the semester, it can be very stressful while studying for exams. Some students are away from home, and we want them to see something and have something to enjoy at night as they walk around campus.”
Thousands of lights will adorn the trees and brighten up the university near Jimmy Simmons Boulevard, Jim Gilligan Way, and the Rolfe Christopher Drive entrance to campus.
“We want to create a space where community members, faculty, staff and students can drive through LU’s beautiful campus, see the lights, and feel that holiday cheer,” Taylor said.
Lights and holiday decorations will remain up through the new year for the community to enjoy.
