Arvil Hilliard was born August 17, 1954, and passed away October 25, at the age of 71.
Arvil was the kind of man who did everything with purpose and passion. Whether it was a days work, a family gathering, or a weekend spent cheering on his favorite wrestlers, he gave it his all. He worked hard his entire life, never shying away from a challenge and always providing for those he loved.
Though he could be stubborn at times, a trait everyone who knew him will remember with a smile, his generosity and loyalty made him the rock of his family and friends. He had a gift for bringing people together, whether it was over a home-cooked meal, a backyard get-together, or just sitting around swapping stories and laughter.
He loved to cook and anyone lucky enough to taste his food knew it came from the heart. His kitchen was often filled with the sounds of sizzling pans, hearty laughter and maybe a wrestling match playing in the background.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and everyone whose life he touched with his kindness, humor and strength.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Hilliard; children, Steven Hilliard and wife Shelby and Mathew Hilliard and wife Katie and grandchildren, Hunter, MaeKaylee, Brayedon, Kaysen, Zayleigh, Swayze and Hayley.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Sonya Hilliard; grandson, Chevelle Hilliard; parents, Bill and Luise Hilliard and sister, Carolyn Hilliard.
Family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Dorman-Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 8808 Highway 87 North Orange, Texas 77631. The Rev. Mike Streams will be officiating.
