Ted Lee Miller, March 18, 1934 – October 25, 2025 Ted Lee Miller, 91, of Orange, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, after a full and active life—living every day with purpose, strength, and the satisfaction of a job well done.
Born on March 18, 1934, in Springfield, Missouri to Parents James Burly Miller & Sarah Elizabeth (Sheridan) Miller. Ted was a lifelong welder and fabricator who proudly owned and operated his own business. He was a true craftsman with an unmatched work ethic and an even bigger heart. There wasn’t much he couldn’t fix, and he believed almost anything could be repaired, repurposed, or made useful again—whether it was a broken tool or a rusty old part. Ted lived simply and humbly, grounded in hard work and dedication, and took great pride in doing things the right way.
Even in his later years, Ted stayed active and independent, finding joy in mowing his own lawn and tackling projects around the house. He never sat still for long.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Harold Miller, sisters Mildred Ducker and Betty Bodenhamer, and his great-granddaughter Alice Weston. Frugal in all things but love, Ted poured his heart into his family. He was married for 55 years to his devoted wife, Malinda Miller, and together they built a life rooted in faith, love, and laughter. He was a proud father to his son, Matthew Miller and wife Nellie, and took tremendous pride in the family that followed.
Ted especially cherished his role as Grandpa to his grandchildren—Alayce Glende and husband Jeff, Elizabeth Weston and husband Taylor, and his only grandson, Tyler Landon Miller, who held a very special place in his heart. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Mattison, Ansleigh, Waylon, Stevie, Adleigh, and Talon, and his sister, Pat Matthews of Springfield, Missouri. Ted leaves behind a legacy of craftsmanship, love, and quiet strength.
His family and friends will forever remember his dry humor, steady hands, and the way his eyes lit up when he talked about the people he loved. His life was a testament to working hard, loving deeply, and appreciating the simple blessings every day brings.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at Dorman Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 from 5:00–8:00 p.m. Ted will then be brought home to Missouri for his final resting place, where a graveside service will be held. “The reward for hard work is not what you get, but what you become.
