Josselyn Maria Hebert, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 52 on October 5, 2025. Her passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of her very large family, extended relatives, countless friends, and coworkers who were touched by her light.
Born on May 15, 1973, in Orange, Texas, Josselyn was the youngest child of Wandalene “Cookie” Nash Hebert and Albert Hebert, III.
She was proud to be a part of a vibrant and close-knit family filled with bonus siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins who helped shape her lifelong love for connection, laughter, and togetherness.
Josselyn was a 1991 graduate of West Orange Stark High School where she was known as a standout student athlete and recognized for her strength and talent in both powerlifting and basketball. Her competitive spirit, determination and humor carried her through life’s many twists and turns, always with her signature smile and charm that could light up any room.
Josselyn played a key role in the lives of many. She was best known for her warmth, loyalty, and unforgettable “impish” presence. She never met a stranger – her social media pages are a strong testament to this! Most of all, she was fiercely protective of the people she loved. If she loved you, she made sure the world knew this and knew not to dare “cross” her people.
To know Josselyn, was to have her on your call log. She possessed an unmatched gift for calling and calling and calling. Her famous “call until you answer” just to tell you that she loves you will be missed. Josselyn built her world around the people she contacted trying to make sure she knew what everyone was up to and always ending with “I luv ya” likely more than one time.
She is survived by her father and stepmother, Albert Hebert, III (Cheryl), devoted sister, Beanka Steverson, stepsister, Leslie McIntosh Rider (David); special nieces, her baby love Adriana Steverson and “Bad Butt” Priscilla Mercer; and the “love of her life” Darrien Ashworth.
Along with her mother, Josselyn was preceded in death by her stepbrother, John Cade McIntosh.
Her laughter, her energy and her unwavering love will continue to echo in the hearts of everyone who had the blessing of knowing her.
