
Mae Dell Cavanaugh, 86, of Vidor, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Silsbee Oaks Nursing Home. She was born in Call, Texas, and was a longtime resident of Vidor.
Mae Dell worked as a bookkeeper for the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, now known as the Shorkey Center, where her dedication and hard work left a lasting impact. Outside of her career, she enjoyed the simple joys of life—cooking, baking, fishing, and foraging. Her warmth and love could always be felt through the meals she prepared and the time she spent with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Molly Benoit and husband Marvin of Vidor, TX; grandchildren Amanda Journeay and husband Blake, and Derek Griffiths; and great-granddaughters Freyja and Edie Mae Journeay.
Mae Dell will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love and strength enriched the lives of those around her.
