
Bridge City 21 Orangefield 14
The 25th edition of the Bayou Bowl did not disappoint as Orangefield took a 14-0 lead but Bridge City would answer with 21 unanswered points for the win. Even in the last two minutes the Bobcats had a shot after BC missed a field goal to put the game away. But the Cards defense held and BC improved to 3-0 and the Bobcats are now 2-1. BC held OF to just 25 total rushing yards, stifling RB Mason Manning who came in averaging 175 per game. Cardinal RB Ashton Sumrall rushed for 94 and two scores and QB Hudson Hoffman was 20-30 for 210 and a TD pass to Abraham Munguia. OF will travel to St. Louis on Thursday and BC has the week off.

Waco LaVega 44 WOS 20
LaVega jumped on the Mustangs early and often in the first half, scoring on their first four possessions to take a 23-0 lead. The Pirate (2-1) defense kept WOS from getting a first down until 4:11 left in the half. WOS got on the board before the half to make it 23-7. But that momentum stopped after the Pirates scored 30 seconds later for a 30-7 halftime lead. Khelvy Jefferson had a couple of long runs to finish with 118 on the night. WOS (1-2) will stay on the road with a trip to Episcopal on Friday.

Iowa, La 28 LCM 8
The Iowa Yellowjackets ground and pounded LCM with 241 of their 304 yds. of offense and three rushing TD’s in the first half. The Bears (0-3) had 209 as a team as they were without RB J’Lynn Morris and receiver KD Reed went out in the first half with a high ankle sprain. The Bears are off this week to prepare for the district opener at home vs. Vidor on Sept. 26.

Hardin 34 Deweyville 0
The Pirates had a hard fought football game against the Hardin Hornets. The Pirates moved the ball all night but just couldn’t finish drives inside the 20. Deweyville (1-2) finished the night with 230 yards total, 191 on the ground and 39 through the air. Leading rusher was Jaxon Slone with 57 yards on 11 carries and 39 yards receiving on 2 receptions. Ayden Kelley had 68 yards on 15 carries. Slade Gunter had 52 yards on 17 carries. DV was without 2 way star Elijah Milton. The Pirates to even up their record this week at home against Acadiana Christian out of Louisiana at 7PM.

Hamshire-Fannett 49 Vidor 28
The Vidor Pirates held a touchdown lead over the Longhorns twice in the first half but H-F turned it up in the second half for the 21 point victory. HF (3-0) had 610 yds. of offense with QB Blake Broussard an impressive 29-33 for 356 and 3 TD’s. The Pirates fell to 0-3 and will be off before traveling to LCM to open district.
