Weekly Fishing Report Week of September 10, 2025
Sabine Lake
GOOD. 89 degrees. Speckled trout are good at the short rigs in 25-35 feet of water with three-quarter ounce jigs with LSU color baits. Nice tripletail can be caught running to the gulf. Some nice cobia and ling can also be caught running the rigs. Finishing up with nice catches of sheepshead and drum at the jetties working live shrimp on Carolina rigs right by the rocks on the bottom. Bolivar
GOOD. 85 degrees. Water temperatures are hanging in the 80s. Water levels are slow-moving back and forth with varying amounts of sargassum washing in on the surf. People are still catching plenty of redfish, trout, gafftop, and black drum everywhere. There are plenty of keeper speckled trout being caught along with sand trout, sheepshead, and crabs caught along the jetty. The bigger stingrays and sharks are definitely in full swing with plenty of bait along the shoreline. Report by Captain Shane Rilat, North Jetty Bait Camp.
FRESHWATER
Sam Rayburn
Water stained; 80 degrees; 6.90 feet below pool. Lots of trash and clumps of hyacinth and weeds were washed out from the creeks into the main lake. Lots of bass are in the shallows. Top water bite around pencil grass and reeds or any cover you can find. Yellow magic and top water bait early have been seeing some action. Crankbaits on points and drains. Jigs and Carolina rigs off ledges and structure. Crappie r slowly move out to brush and timber. White bass school off points. Catfish move out to deeper water and creek channels cut bait doing good. Toledo Bend
90 degrees; 3.44 feet below pool. Water temperatures are finally starting to fall, beginning around 80 degrees in the mornings and climbing to 84-86 degrees during the day, and bass fishing is picking up nicely from shallow to deep water. The shallow water bite, 3-7 feet, has been good around grass and flooded timber on topwater and buzzbaits, while the mid-range, 10-18 feet, has produced on shallow-running crankbaits and Texas rigs. Out deeper in 18-24 feet, big crankbaits, Texas rigs, and Carolina rigs with big worms have been the go-to. No crappie reports have come in this week. Report by Stephen Johnston, Johnston Fishing.
