A woman suffered a broken ankle while a man suffered a broken home after she drove through it early Sunday morning.
Russell Melancon lives at the corner of Eddleman and Memorial near Memorial Field. He said around 3am Sunday he heard a loud noise and got up to find that a woman was driving on Eddleman when she lost control of her vehicle.
She drove into the driveway, struck his boat, push the rear end of the boat into the outer wall and destroying the trailer. She drove through the fence, took out a post on the back patio, and stopped two feet away from going into his pool.
Melancon said this is not the first time his home has been hit. “People drive fast on Eddleman,” he said. The road is not very wide and has no shoulder. “I’ve talked to the city about speed bumps to slow people down but nothing has happened.”
The woman was extricated and taken to the hospital. Charges, if any, have not been announced as of this post.
