Vidor officially held a ribbon cutting Thursday for their two new pickleball courts that were constructed at the Raymond Gould Community Center.
County Commissioner Robert Viator took the lead on the project after it was suggested by resident Doug Jones. The money came from park improvement funds and the project was done by a local contractor David Brewer with Rock Builders. Viator said the total price was approximately $80,000 which included a special non-slip paint.

Viator said, “The courts have stayed busy. I see people here every evening and even during the heat of the day on weekends. Who knows, if all goes well maybe we can build two more and have tournaments.”
The commissioner said he didn’t play the sport but that may change after he was gifted racquets from the HR Department.
