
West Orange-Stark Alumni, Jared K. Dupree, began another employment phase in his law career with the Texas Department of Public Safety as a Texas State Trooper, graduating from the 178th Recruit School in Austin, Texas on Friday, August 8, 2025. Jared completed a seven (7) month DPS Trooper Training in the A-2025 Class, which is the 90th year of the Texas State Trooper Program and has been assigned to the Baytown, Texas office.
Jared began his law enforcement career as a sworn police officer with the Houston Police Department in March 2022 and was the “Rookie of the Year” for HPD in May 2024.
An honor student graduated in the Class of 2017, he excelled in the classroom and extra-curricular activities of National Honor Society, Student Government, Choir, Community Service Volunteer Programs, and Sports.
Continuing on to college, Jared earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree at The University of Texas at Austin and graduated May 22, 2021. The former UT Longhorn competed in Track & Field in the high jump and was a member of the 2021 Men’s Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Team.
Jared is the son of Linda Platt-Bryant of Orange and Keith B. Dupree of Dallas. He is the grandson of the late – Mr. Carl Platt Sr. and the late – Mrs. Helen J. Platt and the late – Earl Dupree Sr. and Mrs. Erma J. Dupree of Dallas.
Jared stated, “I am excited about this opportunity and committed to the mission to protect and serve the State of Texas.” Jared is under the leadership of Colonel Freeman F. Martin.
