Multi-Jurisdictional Sex Offender compliance check:
On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, the Newton County Sheriff’s Office, along with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies conducted a sex-offender compliance check throughout Newton County. Throughout the course of the compliance check, several offenders were found to be out of compliance. Information gained from the compliance checks will be submitted to a judge for potential arrest warrants to be issued against these offenders.
We appreciate the United States Marshal’s Service, Newton Police Department, Newton County District Attorney’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Parks and Wildlife and Newton County Constable Pct. 1 & 4 for their assistance in this operation.
Sheriff Havard would like to remind the offenders living in Newton County if they have a status change, such as address, vehicle, social media username, or change of employment to contact the Newton County Sheriff’s Office to update their status immediately. Sheriff Havard would also like to announce that these compliance checks will continue to be conducted, and the sex offender compliance laws will be strictly enforced.
Terroristic Threat arrest in Toledo Village:

Many of life’s failures are experienced by people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
