James E. “Jim” Kersey suddenly passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025 at the age of 63. Jim, the son of Everett Elton “Bob” Kersey and Dorothy Joan Bierbower, was born in Orange, Texas on March 28, 1962. He grew up in a caring home where, the seventh of 10 wonderful children, he was never far from strength, love, fun and antics of his brothers and sisters. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School with his brothers and sisters and graduated from West Orange Stark High School in 1980.
Jim led a life of serving his community and country. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America. He was a counselor at Camp Bill Stark and achieved the highest rank of Eagle Scout. He attended Texas A&M University where he majored in mechanical engineering and was a member of Company D-1, Devil D. Corps of Cadets, where he made lifelong friends. His Corps buddies nicknamed him Animal because he was one of the toughest cadets they had ever seen and he never complained about anything. Jim was a dedicated member of the Marine Corps Reserves from 1982 to 1988, where he earned the rank of Lance Corporal and was an expert marksman.
While attending Texas A&M he met and married the love of his life, Ronda Long Kersey. They were married August 18, 1984 in Rockwall, Texas. Jim and Ronda have been blessed with four wonderful children and one beautiful granddaughter. Their greatest joy was supporting their children in their hobbies and endeavors: Elizabeth in cheerleading, Julie in softball, Scotty in marching band and as a pianist, and Tyler in marching band and as a bassoonist. Jim was known as an excellent whistler, which will always be missed.
Jim worked at Koch-Glitsch in Dallas, Texas from 1988 to 2009. He was employed with AMACS from 2009 until his untimely passing. His family remains in Missouri City, Texas, where they made their home when Jim accepted the job with AMACS. Jim was well known and respected for his expertise in Process Tower Internals, Separation and Mass Transfer. He was a dedicated and loyal employee his entire life.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Everett Elton “Bob” and Dorothy Joan; sister, Mary Tabor; brother-in-law, Harvey Shearer; and father-in-law, Ronnie Long.
