Slowly but surely the softball field at LCM is seeing improvements and the next phase is underway.
Last season the field received new LED lighting and a new parking lot to keep so many from having to park alongside a busy Bear Path Rd. A couple of weeks ago the original stands, press box and concession stand were torn down.
“We’ll be updating the stands, press box, batting cage and concession stand in this phase,” said LCM Athletic Director Eric Peevey. “Then the next phase will be a locker room for the girls.”
The locker room will be behind first base, which means the Lady Bears will be moving the home side to the first base dugout.
“We’re excited,” said LCM Head Softball Coach Dena Adkins. “It’s been a long time coming and we appreciate Coach Peevey and the district giving the girls and our fans better facilities.”
Coach Adkins is currently preparing her Cross Country teams for the season which starts in a couple of weeks. Last season both squads advanced to Regionals.
Coach Peevey and the defending district champs hit the football field Monday morning.
