Darryl was christened at St. Therese Catholic Church. There he attended CCD, made his First Communion, and served as an “altar boy.”
He graduated from West-Orange Stark High School in the class of 1978, where he played basketball. A gifted student and talented athlete, Darryl excelled both in the classroom and on the court. He continued his academic journey at Prairie View A&M University.

Darryl’s vibrant spirit, generous heart, and powerful presence left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was unapologetically himself – brutally honest and fiercely loyal. Whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or his thoughtful nature, he enriched the lives of others in both big and small ways. His legacy of love, perseverance, and courage will continue to inspire all who were touched by his life.
Darryl’s proudest title, however, was “Dad” and “Paw Paw.” He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved daughter, Darylyn Paige Pollard, and his adored grandson, Maxwell, with whom he shared a bond that brought immeasurable joy and pride.
