Born in Galveston, Texas, on May 9, 1987, she was the beloved daughter of Michael Comeaux and Daphnie King. Crikette graduated from Lamar University in May 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in education, choosing to specialize in teaching children with special needs.
During the 2024-2025 school year, Crikette taught special needs students at Bridge City ISD in Bridge City, Texas and recently accepted a new position at Little Cypress ISD in Orange, Texas for the 2025-2026 school year. Her love and passion for nurturing and educating children was evident in everything she did, as was the impact she had on their lives.
Crikette was known for her extraordinary kindness and gentle nature. A devoted Christian, she lived her life according to the teachings of Jesus Christ and held firmly to the belief that everything happens for a reason—trusting in God’s plan even during difficult times.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially gardening and tending to plants. Shopping trips to Home Depot and HEB always included time browsing through plants and trees, often bringing home new additions for their yard. She also loved scuba diving, particularly swimming with sea turtles and sharks. Above all, Crikette was an outstanding and loving mother who adored her children, always putting her children first and ensuring they felt loved and supported.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Daphnie King; and her father-in-law, Roy Hyett.
She is survived by her adoring husband, Cody Welch; her children, Taylor Burdine, Tyler Burdine, and Olivia Lakey; her father, Mike Comeaux and wife, Monica; her mother-in-law, Julia Hyett; her siblings, Rebekah Comeaux, Dylan Breaux, and Jennifer Broussard; along with numerous other loving friends and family.
Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
The family would greatly appreciate flowers donated to the upcoming service.
