A 29 year old man is in the Orange County Jail following a traffic stop.
On Monday, July 7, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., a deputy with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office stopped a passenger vehicle after witnessing the driver commit a traffic violation. The deputy developed probable cause to believe the driver was involved in criminal activity and a search of the vehicle revealed 29 bundles of high-grade hydroponic marijuana, a 9mm handgun, U.S. currency, and other drug-related paraphernalia.

The driver, Jamail Ledet, 29, of New Iberia, La., was placed under arrest and transported to the Orange County Jail where he was charged with Felony Possession of Marijuana, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and a Felony Warrant for Money Laundering.
Orange County Sheriff Bobby Smith stated, “I want to commend Orange County Sheriff’s Office Deputies for looking beyond the initial traffic stop in their continued commitment to keep illegal narcotics and criminals off the streets of Orange County. I am proud of the dedication and professionalism our deputies and law enforcement partners bring to the job each day to keep Orange County safe.”
