
Rebecca Jean Travis, 77, of Orange, Texas, passed away on July 1, 2025, at Harbor Hospice.
Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Orange and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on September 26, 1947, she was the daughter of Ernest Nunez, Sr. and Alice (Estopinal) Nunez. She was a devoted homemaker, known for her quiet beauty and gentle spirit. Rebecca had a gift for making every holiday special for her family, crafting cherished memories that would last a lifetime. To her grandchildren, she was lovingly known as Mawmaw, and to her great-grandchildren, she held the title of “GiGi,” a name that reflected her warm and nurturing nature. Her interests included a deep love for Elvis, along with a passion for cooking that filled her home with delicious meals. She also enjoyed shopping, often seeking out treasures to bring joy to those around her. Rebecca will be remembered for her simple yet profound impact on the lives she touched. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Travis; parents, Alice and Ernest Nunez, Sr.; and son-in-law, Eugene Ashmore.
She is survived by her daughter, Tina Ashmore; son, Robert Travis III and wife Dana; grandchildren, Allyson Crawford and husband Tyler, Jade Fairchild, Monty Travis, and Jenna Ashmore; ten great grandchildren; brother, Ernie Nunez and wife Marie; nephews, Ernie Nunez and Daniel Nunez; as well as other loving family and friends.
