On Friday, June 20, 2025, at approximately 7:06 A.M., officers with the City of Orange Police Department were dispatched to the Chevron gas station located at 7120 IH-10 in reference to a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.
Upon arrival and further investigation, officers determined that a female pedestrian, identified as 43-year-old Maria Maradiaga of Palestine, Texas, had been struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of the business. Ms. Maradiaga was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Judge Stagner, who also ordered an autopsy to be conducted. This incident remains under active investigation.
OPD has not released the name of the driver.
