On Saturday, June 21, 2025, at approximately 5:24PM the Vidor Police Department received a call of a woman screaming. Officers were immediately dispatched to the 600 block of West Park. While officers were enroute, it was determined that there was an active dog attack in progress inside the residence. Upon arrival officers heard a woman in the yard, later determined to be a resident, screaming for help. As officers neared the open side door of the residence, they heard and saw a male inside the residence yelling for help as the dog was latched on his upper arm. At this time, one officer discharged his weapon striking and killing the dog.
First aid was rendered to both victims until arrival of Acadian Ambulance Service and Orange County ESD #1. The male was transported in serious condition to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital. The woman was transported in non-life-threatening status to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.
The dog involved in the attack was the victim’s dog and resided at the residence.
