
Shirley Jean Hobson Geer, 76, of Vidor, passed away on Friday, June 13th, 2025, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas.
A longtime resident of Vidor, Shirley was a devoted member of Meadows Baptist Church in Plano, Texas. She most recently worked as a preschool teacher at the church’s Meadows Christian Learning Center, where she shared her warmth and kindness with countless children over the years.
Shirley had a sharp mind and a playful spirit. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, bowling, and playing tennis in her younger years. She especially loved going on casino trips with her sister-in-law Frances. She adored her grandchildren and had a soft spot for her beloved cats. Known for her caring nature, Shirley was happiest when taking care of others, whether it was her family, students, or neighbors.
She and her late husband, Jesse, shared a love for travel, taking cruises and memorable trips to Big Bend National Park together. Those who knew Shirley will remember her for her loving heart, adventurous spirit, and devotion to her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Maggie O’Connor and husband Tim of Plano, TX, and Cathy Hoover of Vidor, TX; her brother, Eddie Hobson of Orland, CA; grandchildren Jacob, Caleb, and Grace O’Connor, and Tyler Hoover, as well as Erica and Kaycee; her niece Jessica Ann Cole; sisters-in-law Frances, Eva, and Renee; and great-nieces Bailey and Mackenzie.
Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Jesse Geer, and her sisters, Peggy and Judy.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
