The first ever Bobcat Tennis Camp came to a close on Wednesday and it was an overwhelming success. OHS high school athletes and coaches were able to share their love for the game with children of so many different skill levels and ages. Groups were divided into four groups by age and had current Bobcat Tennis team members help them learn to how to hit forehands, backhands, serves, and volleys.
The final day saw several awards handed out across all courts. “Big Serve” Winners were: Lakyn Hall, Rowan Amy, Kylee Barnett, Lily Kole, Tatum Trim, Larsen Richard, Elek Rivas, and Cash Sims. “Avalanche” Winners were: Rowan Amy, Colt Guidroz, Sander Dyer, Larsen Richard, and Elek Rivas.
Four awards were handed out to campers who demonstrated excellent attitudes and skills throughout the course of the week as determined by their group’s student coaches. Those named “Camper of the Week” were: Sander Dyer, Mila Breaux, Larsen Richard, and Adelyn Travis.
More than 40 incoming 3rd-9th graders attended camp and were given their own can of tennis balls to bring home and continue to build on the skills they learned this week. Students enjoyed getting their gifts autographed by their friends and camp coaches.
Coach Reed and Coach Shores are excited about the potential of these young Bobcats and are already working on ways to make next years camp even better. They would also like to thank the parents and team members that donated their time and effort to make this camp such a success!
