First Church of the Nazarene in Orange held its 21st Annual Memorial Day Tribute at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Heritage Memorial Plaza on MLK Jr. Drive.
U.S. Marine SGT Christopher Ryan Coats was the guest speaker. The Southeast Texas Color Guard and the Community Band of Southeast Texas were also featured during the event. Hot dogs, chips and drinks were served following the service.
Pastor Shane Weaver said, The event started, and continues to honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to fight for our freedom.”
“The event brings tears and laughter. And it’s important to remember our history or we’re doomed to repeat it.”
Weaver thanked the committee for their efforts in planning the event each year.
