Mark Andrew Lane Sr., 61, of Vidor, passed away on Thursday, May 22nd, 2025, at his residence. A native of New Jersey and a longtime resident of Vidor, Mark proudly carried the legacy of a fourth-generation firefighter. His dedication to service was most evident when he assisted in the relief and recovery efforts following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, in New York City, an experience that remained deeply personal and profoundly impactful to him.
Mark had a passion for storytelling, both real and imagined. A devoted fan of Star Wars and a wide array of science fiction and fantasy, he also had a deep love for history, often immersing himself in books, documentaries, and conversations that brought the past to life. He was a loyal supporter of the New York Rangers and enjoyed the camaraderie and tradition that came with every game. More than anything, Mark loved his family. He cherished quiet moments, meaningful conversations, and the simple joys of life. Whether it was sharing stories, laughing with his grandkids, or just sitting outside on a calm evening, he found happiness in being present.
Mark is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Jamie Lane; his children: Mark Lane Jr. and wife Cathy, Daniel Lane and wife Sequoia Blackburn, and Emily Lane and fiancé Jade Purgahn; his four beloved grandchildren, three grandsons and one granddaughter; his mother Babette Lane; and his brother Christian Lane and wife Michelle, along with two nieces and numerous other relatives who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father Skip Lane, his grandparents, and the 343 brothers he lost on September 11, 2001, fellow firefighters whose memories he carried with honor and pride.
