A large crowd gathered Thursday for the unveiling of a new historical marker in Orange. It’s now posted in front of the home of Kenneth and Beth Wheeler at 1008 Pine Ave. in the downtown historic area.
The house was built in 1889 on a lot in Orange’s first subdivision. The Wheelers spent years rebuilding the home with inspiration from a house in New Orleans Garden District.
Mayor Larry Spears, Jr. read a proclamation and that was followed by Jerry Pennington giving the history of the home that you can hear below.
