Betty L. Wingate, of West Orange, Texas, passed this life Friday, April 25, 2025, at The Haven Assisted Living in Lumberton, Texas.
Betty was born in Orange, Texas, on August 28, 1927, to Norman and Eunice Barber and later acquired stepfather, R. D. LaBove. Betty married her love and to be lifelong companion Samuel E. Wingate on August 6, 1944, while Sam was on leave from the Army. She truly loved her new job, and the entire family loved and appreciated her for all she did over the years. After her first daughter, she birthed another daughter and son all 4 years apart. Betty was the calm gentle mother that kept the family running smoothly. She was kind, loving and gentle but stern in her beliefs.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Euncie Barber; stepfather, R.D. “Roosevelt Desiree” LaBove; her loving husband, Sam; her brothers, Roy “Buddy” Barber and John Frank Barber.
