Sommer Evette Gallien was born June 30, 1980, and passed away April 22, 2025, at the age of 44.
Sommer had a colorful spirit and talent for decorating that matched. Whether it was her own home or someone else’s, she was always ready to lend a hand with vibrant ideas for making a house truly feels like a home. Her colorful spirit and love for decorating also led her to a passion for creating flower arrangements. Sommer worked as a floral designer for two years and was currently working on starting a small floral shop from her own home. Her unique and colorfully decorated house was always filled with her fur babies, which were the little loves of her life. The most recent add on was Luna, a stray which charmed her way into the house and although being the most stubborn, rambunctious and destructive of all the animals, Sommer often said they had a special connection, and a lot of the same traits. Sommer also had a passion for traveling. One of her favorite vacations was fulfilling her lifelong dream of going to Ireland. The Country was so beautiful that while exploring the many castles, scenic destinations and quaint towns she almost considered visiting one of the local pubs that scattered the countryside. Also among her travels were trips to Germany, Mexico, Wyoming and countless destinations that were a little closer to home. Sommer loved many things in her life, but the greatest love of all was for her family. With her big heart and vibrant soul, she touched many lives over the years, and she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Jason Gallien; beloved pets, Gustav, Freya, Merlin, and Luna; siblings, Ricky Ashworth and wife Janie of Starks, Sherry Johnson and husband Pete of Starks, Olin Ashworth of Lake Charles, and Ronald Ashworth and wife Flora of DeQuincy; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Odis and Jackie Ashworth.
