
At approximately 5:00am on the morning of August 10, Officers of the West Orange Police Department, Pinehurst Police Department and Orange Police Department responded to an alarm call at the Simoniz Car Wash on MacArthur Drive in West Orange. Upon their arrival, 48 year old Robert Dale Johnson was found by Officers in the parking lot of Simoniz. Officers discovered that a burglary had occurred and that property taken from the business was found on Johnson as well as inside of an abandoned vehicle that was at the business to be cleaned. Johnson was arrested for burglary of a building and taken to the Orange County Jail. Subsequently, at approximately 9:30am the same date, West Orange Officers responded to another burglary call at the LaCantina Restaurant on MacArthur Drive during which time evidence collected from the scene suggests that Johnson is also responsible for committing this break in as well. These two cases remain under investigation and will be forwarded to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office for review. Johnson was arrested in June for burglarizing Tractor Supply.
In a follow up release from August 10, 2015, West Orange Police Investigator’s filed a complaint with the Orange County District Attorney’s office on August 11, 2015 formally charging 48 year old filed Robert Dale Johnson with Felony Theft. This case comes about as a result of investigating the recent burglaries at the Simoniz car Wash and the LaCantina restaurant and discovering evidence that revealed Robert Dale Johnson had been involved in the theft of merchandise from the West Orange Walmart a short time prior to committing the two business burglaries on August 10, 2015. His bond has been set on this charge at $20,000 by Orange County Court at Law #2 Judge Troy Johnson.
The additional Theft charge on Robert Dale Johnson was placed upon him as he still remains in the Orange County Jail charged with the Simoniz Car Wash burglary.
