The Stark Museum of Art proudly presents the 2025 Juried Student Art Exhibition, “Joys of Childhood,” on view now through May 17. This year’s exhibition invites visitors to celebrate the magic and memories of youth through 100 works of art created by 4th through 12th grade students from Region 5, Texas, and Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana.
The annual juried exhibition is presented in conjunction with the museum’s special exhibition, “Childhood Classics: 100 Years of Original Illustration” from the Art Candy Collection, on view through July 12. Together, the exhibitions highlight the enduring impact of childhood stories, memories and imagination through a variety of visual mediums.
“The 2025 Joys of Childhood theme challenged young artists to create joyful images inspired by childhood experiences,” said Rebecca Johns, director of education at the Stark Museum of Art. “The student artwork was juried by staff at the Stark Museum of Art, while submissions by students in grades 7 through 12 received additional review from faculty members of the Lamar University Department of Art & Design.”
As part of this year’s awards, three scholarships in the amounts of $1,000, $750 and $500 were granted to high school students from the Lamar University Department of Art & Design. Additionally, two STEAM Summer Art Camp scholarships were awarded.
All award recipients and exhibiting artists were celebrated at a reception on April 2, hosted at the Stark Museum of Art.
