Tuesday was a special day for the Bridge City ISD as they held a ribbon cutting for their new Career and Technology Education Building on the high school campus.
Superintendent Mike Kelly said the building is 45,000 square feet and it was made possible by the voters pushing a bond issue through in May 2022. The facility is filled with equipment and learning spaces, all designed to give students hands-on experiences and set them up for success in their chosen careers.
Kelly was emotional in his announcement. “You have no idea what was involved to make this possible. From the design to construction. And it started with the community saying “Yes” to our kids.”
The second part of the bond issue is the building of a new middle school which is underway and is expected to open the Fall of 2026.
BCISD is also sending a new bond proposal to the voters coming up in the May 3 Election. They want to build a performing arts center that would seat 1300. Early voting is April 22-29. You can read more about it here.
