
Madelyn Sue Leggett, “Susie” to some, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, at her residence in Orange, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 3, 1956, in Port Arthur, Texas, Madelyn left an indelible mark on those who knew her throughout her 68 years of life.
Madelyn cultivated a successful career working at the City of Port Arthur, Port Arthur School District, Assumption Catholic Church, and always maintaining employment at Merle Norman, which she considered her favorite place of employment. She retired from the workforce to spend more time with her family and travel with her husband.
An alumna of Thomas Jefferson High School, Madelyn graduated in 1974. She remained lifelong friends with many of her classmates, cherishing the memories they created together. Madelyn embraced her family life wholeheartedly, being a proud wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest joy stemmed from her family, and she always found time to support and encourage them in their endeavors.
Madelyn’s interests were as vibrant as her personality. She loved traveling with her husband, Jack, exploring new places and creating precious memories. In her downtime, she enjoyed reading books and magazines, shopping, and indulging in beauty treatments, such as having her lashes and nails done. A true lover of comfort, she had a particular fondness for sonic ice and delighted in the beauty of magnolias, her favorite flower. Madelyn found joy in watching classic films, with favorites including “Song of Bernadette,” “A Christmas Story,” “It’s A Wonderful Life,” and “The Sound of Music.”
Madelyn is survived by her devoted husband, Jack Leggett of Orange. She leaves behind her children, Joey Pritchard and his wife, Kim of Port Neches, TX; Andy Pritchard and his wife, Candice of Fannett, TX; Laurie Fuller and her husband, Brett of Orange, TX; Cathy Treibel and her husband, Larry of Humble, TX; Mark Leggett and his wife, Helen of Lumberton, TX; and Clint Commander of Nederland, TX. Madelyn was also the cherished grandmother of Jaxson, Lauryn, Jordyn, Drew, Addie, Brynlee, Hudson, Brady, Emily, Chase, Lana, Abby, Daniel, and Connor, and great grandson, Noah. Treasure forever in her heart were her siblings, Creig Jordan of Massachusetts and Andrea Robin of Groves. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, many cousins and friends that will forever cherish her memory.
Madelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Nobie Jordan, and her brother, Dale Jordan.
A Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m., Friday, February 28, 2025, followed by a Memorial Service to begin at 6:00 p.m. A visitation will continue from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves.

Madelyn Sue Leggett will be remembered for her kindness, her dedication to family, and her vibrant spirit that enriched the lives of all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will endure in the hearts of her family and friends.
