More home break-ins were reported to Orange police on Tuesday. One burglary at 3333 Ridgemont Drive apartments included vandalism that caused a few hundred dollars worth of damage to a unit being remodeled.
The manager of the apartments called police at 8:16 a.m. after discovering the damage. Officer J.H. Kirkpatrick reported that a fire was started in the bathroom and caused damage. In addition, someone broke the toilet and water flooded the apartment with an inch of water.
Kirkpatrick said a neighbor called the fire department about 5 a.m. because of a smoke smell. The fire department searched the area but did not find a fire. Besides the damage, the burglar took a six-foot aluminum ladder and a black toolbox with tools. The fire marshal is also investigating the break-in because of the fire.
Shortly after midnight Tuesday, a resident in the 500 block of Bridal Wreath called in a burglary with an estimated $3,800 worth of electronics taken. The items included a 60-inch TV, a laptop computer, two 19-inch TVs, a 46-inch TV, a Playstation 4 and a Wii game console.
Another burglary was reported about 1 p.m. in the 400 block of Arkansas. The resident noticed cash and a watch were missing from a kitchen table. He then saw a broken window pane in the back door with the door ajar.
Tractor Supply on Interstate 10 reported a man came in wearing flip-flops and left wearing a new, $125 pair of boots. Store personnel called Orange police about 9 Tuesday morning about the theft. The store has similar thefts recently. A worker noticed the man’s footwear and later heard rustling from a boot box. A manager asked the man if he intended to pay for the boots and he became belligerent as he walked to the front door. The man and a woman drove away in a silver Chevrolet Impala.
