Earlier in the year Kevin Smith learned that he would be in the College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2024 and Tuesday night in Las Vegas, the official induction was made during a banquet at the Bellagio.
The West Orange Stark graduate becomes the 12th Aggie to be inducted, joining Joseph Utay (1905-07), Joel Hunt (1925-27), Joe Routt (1935-37), John Kimbrough (1938-40), Jack Pardee (1954-56), John David Crow (1955-57), Charlie Krueger (1955-57), Dave Elmendorf (1968-70), Jacob Green (1977-79), Ray Childress (1981-84), and Dat Nguyen (1995-98). Smith played from 1988-91 before joining the Dallas Cowboys.
The three-time First Team All-Southwest Conference performer is Texas A&M’s all-time career leader in interceptions with 20, interception return yards with 289 and three interceptions returned for a touchdown. Smith is also credited with breaking up 32 passes in his career, which ranks in the Aggies top-five. (Above Smith is pictured with friend and WOS teammate Russell Bottley)
