The LCM Bears will open the playoffs at home Friday night against the Lindale Eagles. The Eagles come into the game as the number four seed out of 9-4A with a 5-5 record but Coach Eric Peevey said don’t let their record fool you. Lindale is a good team.
“They’re really good. They just come out of a tough district. Probably the toughest in the state. Coach Chris Cochran took Lindale to State in 2020 and they’ve been to the playoffs every year since.” One of those tough losses was to (9-1) Pine Tree, 13-7 in OT.
The Eagles run the spread and can be creative with their alignments. Defensively they’re a 3-3-5 but Peevey said they’ll switch that up as well.
Meantime the Bears come into the playoffs on an eight game win streak. Peevey wasn’t completely happy with his teams efforts in the last game against Lumberton but he says they’ve had some great practices so far this week.
The Bears have become well rounded on offense. Running backs J’Lynn Morris and Jonah Fuller are QB Braylon Lewis have combined to run for 2100 yds. Lewis has become an efficient passer with Khayden Reed as the big play receiver. Lewis should surpass 1000 yds. through the air Friday and Reed comes in with 30 receptions. Evan Worster has become an X-factor and he can run, pass, or catch.
LCM’s defense gives up about 300 ypg. and they’re lead by Tucker Floyd and Jackson Smith. The “D” is known for flying around the ball and they’ll have to do the same Friday to be successful.
Intangibles has to go to LCM. The Bears are getting to host their first playoff game while Lindale will be making a four hour plus trip on a bus down to Orange.
