Merle “Lynn” Young, 74, of Vidor, passed away on Monday, November 11th, 2024, at Kinder Hospital Clear Lake in Webster, Texas. Born in DeRidder, Louisiana, Lynn grew up in Bridge City, Texas, before making her longtime home in Mauriceville. She retired from a dedicated career at Oak Forest Elementary School, where she touched countless young lives with her kindness and care. Lynn was a vibrant soul with a deep love for travel, music, and the beauty of nature, often found tending to her flower beds and yard with joy. She played the organ beautifully and found peace in sharing her music with her church community. A dedicated member of Bridge City United Pentecostal Church she served as Sunday school secretary, organist, and Sunday school teacher, enriching the lives of those around her with her faith, service, and gentle spirit. Lynn is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Russell Young of Mauriceville, TX; her children, Vanessa Young-Wintner and husband Gregg of The Woodlands, TX, Rodney Young and wife Kristie of Beaumont, TX, and Damon Young of Austin, TX; and her brother Nathan Ashworth Sr. of Santa Fe, TX. She was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren: Chase, Dylan, Vivienne, and Luke Wintner, and Haden and Bryce Young. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Minnie Ashworth, and her brother, Robert Gervis Ashworth II. Lynn’s love and faith will be remembered always by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warmth, dedication, and grace have left an everlasting mark on the lives she touched.
