Thursday was Sue Will’s last day of drawing a paycheck for working at the Orange Public Library. After 20 years on the job, she retired. However, she’ll be back, she told a group gathered for an afternoon reception. She said she plans to come and volunteer at the library. Will retired to spend more time with her husband, Joe Will, who has Lou Gehrig’s disease, or ALS. He also attended the reception in a wheelchair. Library Director Brenna Manasco said Sue Will has been at the library through two hurricanes, including Rita that blew part of the roof off. In addition, she’s had to deal with “crazy patrons, none of whom are here now.” Virginia Bonar with the Friends of the Orange Public Library had guests sign river rocks for Sue Will to take home as mementoes for her garden. Her gifts included a garden wagon, plants and other gardening items. (photo from left: Will, Manasco, Bonar)
