This week the Sugie Lane Foundation unveiled their display at the Orange County Courthouse as October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Emily Ross, the founder of SLF, thanked the Orange County Commissioners, the District Attorney’s office and the Sheriff’s Department for allowing them to display on the courthouse lawn, and draw awareness to domestic violence.
The display shows purple pinwheels for the number of domestic violence calls (209), 110 accepted domestic violence cases, 64 misdemeanor charges filed, and 56 felony charges filed.
Ross said her organization, named after her mother who lost her life to domestic violence, is a bridge to helping women and children getting out of domestic violence situations. For more information you can contact them at 409-779-9959.
