A woman from Mauriceville was one of two people that died in a plane crash Tuesday morning in Odessa.
The City of Odessa reports the passenger Joleen Caveretta Weatherly, 49, of Orange County, and pilot Joseph Summa, 48, of Bellaire, Texas were pronounced dead at the scene in Ector County.
The aircraft, a Cessna 550 Citation II, was flying southbound at a low altitude over Yukon and Alderfer Avenue when it struck a power line in Odesa. The plane crashed into a private alley, striking several homes and sheds.
The 8 seat plane left Schlemeyer Field Airport in Odessa and was scheduled to land at Ellington Field in Houston.
The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration were notified of the crash.
